Environment & Social Safeguards is being included in mainstream business operations of GEPCO in changing scenarios by portraying the necessitation and inclusion in existing rules of business. It is obligation to act in accordance with international agreements, implementation of Electricity Distribution License, Section 12 which relates to conformance to Environmental & Social Standards in Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) and Pakistan & Punjab Environmental Protection Act.
GEPCO has adopted SOP (Environmental & Social Safeguard) to present more public affable aligned with adage of GEPCO for provision of ethical and sustainable customer services. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)/Initial Environmental Examination, Resettlement Plans (RP), Land Acquisition Resettlement Plans (LARP) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP) are being prepared and implemented for all work being carried out by GEPCO.
Smooth performance of business is dependent on continuous trainings to management, contractors and workers (on-site/off-site) for minimizing the impacts associated with projects. It is imperative to affirm here that dauntless efforts amalgamated with candor, amity and diversified methods can deliver results. Realization of every faction including Environmental & Social aspects playing a critical role in achieving goals promotes company’s result oriented approach. Under present state of affairs, to improve the existing system all pertinent international & national rules and regulations of environmental & social management are being complied with. Rules of business are being improved to deliver better services by adopting new technologies of Environmental & Social Management at the same time improving customer services by redressing grievances of customers.
